Well done! Hearty congratulations to you. Enjoy your well-earned rest and relaxation and a bit of easy sight-seeing. After so long on the road I should think you will find it very strange to travel any way other than by bike.. I can't believe you dismantled the bikes though - it must have been like saying goodbye to a dear friend! Or were you glad to see the back of them??

WELL DONE!!

Congratulations! We've been visiting chinacycle off and on over the last few months and it has been great to see you guys travel so far. Short bike rides into town are all I can do :). We've loved the pictures and the journal. Wonder how you will all settle back into 'normal' life after such a great experience.

Thank you all :).

Hi Everyone,

Thanks for all your kind messages, I'll try and reply to them all eventually! I'm recovering at the moment after a whistle stop SAGA tour of Xian and Lhasa. Mum and Dad left this morning and so I was kicked out of the Cathay Hotel and am now holed up in the 'Captain's Hostel' and trying to get to grips with the fact that it doesn't have a rooftop bar selling Pimms. I'll stay here for a few days then back to Beijing to see everything I missed because of my 2 day hangover last time. ETA in East Hanney 17th September.

Congratulations! Seems a bit of a feeble thing to say after 10,000 miles, but it'll have to do. I eagerly await further elaborations of your travel stories, as well as all the bits you didn't want HRH Phil the Greek to read about. :)

You are the only ones that read this if I don’t include my email rite ?, If you want some beers with backpacker types check out the Far East Youth hostel and don’t miss the beer garden over the road.

Congratulations on a truly amazing accomplishment. A lark it may have been, but what post-graduate study program could have given you some many lessons in so many different things--like how to get three sheets in the wind in all of the Silk Road countries. I guess that now the rest of us will have to stop living vicariously and get out there and do some traveling ourselves, although maybe not by bicycle.

Hi George,

I am glad that you saw more than coal mines near Datong. I was in Wutai Shan a couple of years ago and loved it, particulary after unexpected snowfall and few tourists. I will miss your journals, they have brought back many memories of my own travels (by bus)in Uzbekistan and China.
Congratulations to all on accomplishing your goal on the 26th.

Gents - I just wondered, as you finish what effect this had had on your body shapes? Have you lost a lot of weight, or added alot of muscle? I imagine you would be in the shape of an olympic athlete!

Best of luck for the final couple of days
